IF you weren't syncing them to icloud (if you did it's gone), and you've been backing up to icloud or itunes, then you follow the steps outlined in this link Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

f you have them on Mac or in a backup, there's a way. For Mac, sync them through iCloud messages (tap "merge" when asked), for a backup -- restore it to a spare device, then sync through iCloud as with Mac. If you have an iTunes backup and you're OK with having this thread in PDF, you can extract it with smth like iMazing.
