MacBook Pro keyboard randomly freezes

Hi all,

Whenever I'm writing longer pieces of text, my 2017 MacBook Pro's keyboard stops responding. When it does happen, it is always triggered by me clicking the caps lock button. The green light then stays on and the keyboard stops responding. The OS remains responsive and the trackpad is fine, it is still functional and all gestures work. In order to regain control of the keyboard, I always have to shut down the Mac. Closing the lid and reopening it does not fix the issue, nor does a Restart. It must be turned off and on again.

Just to clarify: it's not whenever I click the caps lock button. I clicked the caps lock button multiple times writing this post and this did not occur. But when it does occur, it is triggered by clicking the caps lock button.

Any ideas on how to fix this issue? I have been writing a lot recently and this occurs 2-3 times in an hour.
