catalina install says disk not apfs

Tried to upgrade from Mojave to Catalina but it wont install because disk is not formatted APFS. Is there a way to reformat without erasing my data?

Boot into Recovery Mode. Open Disk Utility. Right/control click on the drive and choose "Convert to APFS…"
