I accidentally disabled my iphone. I know the pass code. However, I had another iPhone that I have now activated. I want to transfer my contacts and texts to the new iPhone. Do I just switch the SIM card? The old phone had not been backed up. Help!

Switching the SIM card is not going to do anything. SIM does not store any data. It just holds your cellular service account information to log into the cellular network.
Your iPhone is disabled and you will need to reset the passcode to "enable" it.
You can reset your passcode by following the instructions in this article by Apple ➔ How to reset your passcode on a disabled iPhone. You will need a computer for this task and all your data on your iPhone will be wiped clean in the process.
If you have a backup created then you can ➔ Restore Your iPhone from that backup file. If you do not have a backup file created then you will lose all your data on the iPhone.
If Photos, Messages and Contacts are synced to iCloud then you will be able to retrieve them after setting up iCloud on your iPhone after you reset the passcode and sign into iCloud.

Nope.
Your SIM card stores absolutely no Apple-related data.
The old phone had not been backed up.
Then prepare to lose everything. Backups were the way to transfer your information.
