MacBook Pro 2012 'Setting up your Mac' Stuck

Hello all! I am setting up a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) which had been reset to factory settings. Bought it from a friend and it was working fine before the factory reset, as far as I know. Upon starting it up, I input the icloud account I wanted to use for the computer. Then it started it's 'set up'.

It has now been going through the 'Setting up your Mac' process for 3+ hours which seems extreme. If this is still happening a few hours from now, I am going to assume it is stuck or corrupt or something. What is my best option for rescuing it? I am not sure what operating system it is currently using. Many thanks in advance for any help!

I reset the System Management Controller (SMC) and it came to life. Thank goodness.
