This functionality is not supported by the native Camera App. That said, there are some third-party Camera Apps in the Apple App Store that do allow remote control from another device.

lol I should clarify:

Use Switch Control to control your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using a single switch or multiple switches.

Not the nintendo switch...even though it would be pretty cool

I see, thank you! I'm trying to set up my iphone's camera to monitor but be able to control from my ipad instead of investing in a gopro.
