I want to pass on an old iMac 2008, so have wiped the HD drive and then gone to reinstall the OS, which was El Captain.
Download goes ok, starts the install, but then fails with a message on components to install
Have repeat the process with a wired Ethernet connection in case there was any wi-fi drop the could have corrupted the file ,,,, but same result.
Any suggestions

Thanks i did resolve it is a similar manner I download a copy of the OS onto another iMac and follow the instruction on the support site to create a bootable USB hard drive version of the install
