Transfer music from macbook to ipad pro

can i connect my 2020 ipad pro 11in (2nd gen) to my 2010 macbook pro and sync my music files i've ripped off of cd's (not purchased through itunes) from the computer to the ipad pro?

Why is this so difficult with the ipad pro?
