I'm trying to use my AppleID with my AppleTV and I keep getting the instruction to "type your password followed by the six-digit verification code [directly into the password field]." I have tried numerous methods and variations, power cycling, successfully changing my password, you name it, but it still just doesn't work.
The process works when connecting my iCloud account, but the same process fails when connecting the iTunes account.

Try this:
Enter the characters of your password (do not submit yet), then manually request a new verification code, then append that code to the password, and then submit.
