My 2020 MacBook Pro is connected to an external monitor using the USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter (using HDMI). After I wake my MBP after being asleep, it does not recognize the external monitor. I have to disconnect the USB-C and reconnect, and then all is fine. Never had this problem with my old MBP. Anyone else have this problem?

It didn't solve for me. I've been doing it for the past 3 days, it keeps happening at random.
My guess is that it tailors with the other problems on the USB-c port. 10.15.6 doesn't solve either.
Of note: I don't have those problems with BootCamp. So it's definitely a macOS problem.
Solved by Apple Support. Hold power button down for 10 seconds, wait a few seconds and restart the computer. It resets the ports and other system management tools.
