Husband has iPad, iPhone and macbook linked to his Apple ID. He no longer uses his MacBook. If I change Apple ID on his MacBook to my Apple ID so I can use it, will it change or effect in any way his stored photos, docs or his access to his iCloud Drive from his iPad or iPhone? I want to link my Apple ID to the MacBook and he wants to continue to use his Apple ID and iCloud from his iPad and iphone.

And then sign in with your apple ID. There will be no link between the mac and his account.

You won't be able to change his to yours. That would be combining/merging Apple IDs--which you can't do.
