I want to buy a new MacBook from a store which isn’t the apple store, however will Apple increase the storage on the new MacBook?
i understand Apple can do this if purchase from their store however I am looking to purchase the laptop from another chain store.

You can not change the storage that is built into the computer when manufactured. If you order a custom built computer online then the computer is manufactured to your specifications.
Thank you BobTheFisherman for your help! This would make sense why Apple offer the increased storage when buying the MacBook online.... it’s a custom built computer.... also explains the price. Sorry for my lack of knowledge. Thank you.
