Air pods losing mic

my airpod mic has started cutting out the past two days. i've been using them consistently in microsoft meetings for the past few weeks and only yesterday my mic stopped working intermittently.

i can hear just fine.

when i switch to speaker audio others can hear me talking, but when i switch back the pods it loses mic again.

i tried using them in voice recorder and the mic is working.

They are fully charged and tried disconnecting and reconnecting the bluetooth connection. I also made sure there was no debris covering the mic.
