Favorites Bar Item Order?

I use my favorites bar a lot to store things for repeated short-term access, and only delete them occasionally, so my bar fills up quickly. it used to be that the newest item I added would appear "first" -- at the upper left corner of my windows older favorites were shoved to the right and then to get to older faves, I'd have to click on the >> at the right edge to view older links.

Somewhere alongtheu line, Safari started adding the newest Favorites to the *end* of the list -- arghh! Now it's the oldest, most 'stale' sties that are always visible and I have to click >> to get o the most recent ones.

I can't seem to find a Sort option for getting Safari to reverse the order (newest to oldest rather tan oldest to newest.) Can someone help?

There is no Safari Preference to treat new Favorites differently by shifting them automatically to the left (top) of the Favorites items. You are stuck clicking on, and dragging a Favorite item to the left to rearrange it manually. Perhaps an alternative to the Favorites would be adding your high turnover items to the Reading List.

If you look in Menu bar > Bookmarks > Edit Bookmarks --a page will show and the list of your Favorites should be at the top. Inside that you can drag bookmarks to any order you like, and they will replicate in that order in the Favorites bar.

Thanks for the reply, but you are missing my question entirely. I use my bookmarks as a very temporary place-holding device -- in a week, I probably add 20 items to it -- for instance, ebay auctions I am interested in or articles I need to quote. Or Facebook threads I want to monitor. It's important to me that *THE MOST RECENT* bookmarks be visible. So I want the newest bookmark to appear on the left edge, pushing all the others to the right -- so to see older ones, I have click on the >> and lok in the dropdown. This used to be default behavior.

Now, Safari store the oldest links permanently on the upper left, and adds new ones to the 'end' of the list, so for the most current bookmarks, I have to click >> and hunt down to the end. I'm wondering if I can change the setting for adding the bookmark AUTOMATICALLY to the TOP LEFT. Any help for that? Thanks!
