I realized my phone was not connected to wifi and one of my apps was shutting done every time I opened it, so I turned my phone off. But when I tried to turn it back on it is stuck on the black screen with the white apple.

Did u tried a force restart? if not, then try a force restart your phone by pressing & holding the volume button and sleep/wake button simultaneously until apple logo appears in the screen. This may help.
