how can I get a copy of my receipt or invoice?

Apple differentiates the Apple Store, and the App Store, which can make these discussions confusing...

If the web order was with the folks at the Apple Store, those purchase receipts are usually emailed. Check your spam folder.

For the Apple App Store orders...

See your purchase history for the App Store or iTunes Store - Apple Support

If for the Apple Store and you don’t have an email, see the mechanism for printing a receipt listed here:

If you still need help, you’ll want to contact the folks at Apple Support.

To confirm the “they” there, this purchase was directly from the folks at Apple? If the purchase was directly from Apple and if what is available at the above links is insufficient and if you received no receipt, then you’ll want to contact the folks at Apple Support directly.

Thank you for the reply! Yes, it was directly from apple.com. I did contact them and got an un-helpful email back that didn't answer my question, but I'll keep trying …
