what are the optimal internal temps

what is the max temp for internal cpus on 2019 macbook pro 13 inch w/ I7 @ 1.8GHz and 16 Gigs of RAM.

My computer is very warm to the touch even when not running intensive apps or programs. I downloaded a monitoring app. My internal temps are roughly 64 degrees Celsius. I have already reset my SMC...

thank you for your reply, it’s much appreciated. I spoke with a tier 2 tech from Apple and we deleted some files, did some trouble shooting and it seems to have lowered the temperature overall. The gentleman said that 2019 computers such as mine idle at 30 degrees Celsius. The max on this one is 80 degrees Celsius. Before the tech did his trouble shooting, my computer was idling around 50 degrees Celsius. It wasn’t normal. But we managed to delete apps I hadn’t used for more than a month that we’re running in the background.

running good as new now.

thank you for letting me know about throttling and the maxing out of the chip.

Every different configuration of a computer makes for a different idling temp. I’ve learnt a lot about computer temps today. 😁

Keep your Mac notebook within acceptable operating temperatures

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201640

Operating temperature: 50° to 95° F (10° to 35° C)

I don't know about third party monitoring app. I do know from the Terminal.app you can see both CPU & GPU temps, might as well look at fan speed too, copy and paste:

sudo powermetrics -n 1 --samplers smc | egrep -i "FAN|CPU die|GPU die"

(note: your psswd will not echo, type it in anyway, to proceed use the enter/return key)

I don't know about the CPU operating temps for the 2019, but for the 2016/17 models the operating temps range from idle temps of 40C/45C maybe even 50C depending on the third party items which launch at boot/login. Running an app will usually cause CPU temps to rise to 50C - 70C on average, but temps can go as high as 90C to 100C when the laptop is working hard.

The fan(s) will run faster to keep the CPU running below 100C. If the laptop is pushing the CPUs to full load and the fan(s) are at maximum speed, then the CPU speed will be throttled until the laptop's cooling system is able to lower temperatures enough to allow the CPU to run faster again. These are just my personal observations monitoring several of our organization's MBPros using Macs Fan Control.

You can always run the Apple Diagnostics to make sure the temperature sensors and fans are working correctly.

Keep in mind the CPUs are very powerful and create a lot of heat and Apple laptops are extremely thin making it hard to keep the system cool. Apple laptops tend to run & feel hotter than many other competitors.
