If you’ve forgotten the passcode or gotten locked out as is discussed in this thread, then the answer to that has been posted here, including in the Apple recommended answer.


You’ll have to reset and re-load, using a Mac or Windows system.


And yes, you need a Mac or Windows system to reset the passcode.


And yes, the reset will erase the contents.


No, there is no other way to reset the passcode, other than using a Mac or Windows system, short of using a courier to send the device to Apple or to a trusted party to perform the reset on your behalf.
