Touch Bar won't control Music (Catalina 10.15.5)

To be fair it's been an issue since I got my Macbook Pro and sometimes an update fixes it and then the next update undoes it.

The play, pause and skip options on the touchbar do not work unless I'm in the music app. Every other touch bar option works. I've reset the computer, reset the PRAM and updated the touchbar controls/
