received an email stating that i visited a xxx site abd stated my current startup password is this possible ?

Received an email today stating that I visited a xxx site and had pictures of me and it also stated what my current startup password was, because I immediately changed it. It this really possible and if so how do I prevent this from happening again..

Those messages have been very frequently reported here recently. They are all scams. The sender has an old password stolen from a website some time ago. Delete the email, and do not respond to, or otherwise interact with the sender. Change the passwords on any site where you may have used that password.
