Keyboard issue

Hey y'all

I have a problem with my keyboard. When I'm typing I notice that the 'E' & the 'T' don't respond or respond twice. Then I either don't get a letter or suddenly I get two. I've looked at the same problem on this forum but I couldn't find anything. I bought it at an online store. If I have to open the laptop myself I have no warranty anymore.

I've a MacBook Air 2018.

Thanks for the solutions. Take care!

Hi LejonV,

We appreciate taking the time to try those steps and get back to us with the results. Next, I'd recommend following these steps to clean the keyboard of your Mac, if you haven't already: How to clean the keyboard of your MacBook or MacBook Pro

I also suggest you take a look at the steps in the section titled "If only some keys on your wireless, USB, or built-in keyboard work" here: If your Apple keyboard doesn't work

Lastly, you can use these steps to run a diagnostic on your Mac and check for potential hardware issues: How to use Apple Diagnostics on your Mac

Should you continue to have trouble, reach out to Apple for additional support: Get Support

Take Care.

Hi LejonV,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. I understand you're having trouble with the E and T keys on your Mac either not responding or duplicating characters. I know it's important for your keyboard to work properly; I'd like to help. First, try resetting the SMC of your Mac and take some time to test for the behavior: How to reset the SMC of your Mac

If the issue persists, use these steps to start your Mac in safe mode and test again: How to use safe mode on your Mac. If the issue seems resolved in safe mode, restart your Mac normally and test for the behavior.

Let me know what you find.

Best Regards.
