iCloud Photos

Hi, I’m new to iCloud and i’m having trouble with iCloud photos. I always used to sync my photos on my phone to my Mac to create albums. However, a few days ago, I made the transition to iCloud.

I turned “iCloud Photos on”. It deleted my photo stream and i’m currently uploading my photos from my laptop to my icloud photos. But i just noticed that a few photos and videos not on my laptop or icloud have been deleted. Is there anyway to retrieve this?

Any assistance would be great!!
