Lightning bolt, but no charge

How can I avoid seeing the lightning bolt and iPhone 7 Plus appearing to be charging, but picking up the phone hours later to see it has not charged but lightning bolt still appears?

Does changing out the cable help anything? I replaced the battery weeks ago. I still have a lot of trouble charging.

A bad or a poorly performing third-party cable and charger can certainly affect the battery charging process. See if you can find a way to charge your iPhone with Apple issued cable and charger. If that does resolve the issue then there is something wrong internally with your iPhone. Who installed your battery? This may also be a poor battery installation or a damaged charging circuit.
