Split view two .pages documents

For some time now, my MacBook refuses to split view two .pages documents. For my work it is necessary to compare two documents, so it is much easier to split the screen. Not being able to do this is very annoying, seen as it was previously possible in MacOS Mojave. Is this just a bug or is this easily fixable? I have turned on "displays have separate spaces" in Mission Control, but this does not seem to be the problem.

Any helpful tips for fixing this issue?

Currently using a 13" 2015 rMBpro.

On Catalina 10.15.4 and using Pages v8.2.1, I have no issue with two Pages documents opened in split view. Pages only supports opening the same named document from two different folder locations, if that is an issue, otherwise two different named documents from the same location is ok.

Open the first Pages document, and then open the second document. Switch to the first document and press/hold the green traffic light until it enters split view mode. The other opened Pages document window will shrink noticeably, until you click it to have both documents side-by-side in split view.

In the Mission Control Preferences, I have all check box selected, and Dashboard : [ as Space ].

Thank you for the reply, but the issue is not resolved by following your instructions. As seen on my included screenshot; I am not able to select the second .pages file. This issue won't go away by renaming the files nor saving my files in a different folder.

The weird thing is that sometimes my MacBook will allow me to select the second file, but when I select it, my whole screen turns grey and it would switch to entire new window.

Are you able to select the second .pages file whilst being in the situation as seen on my screenshot?

Ps. I have also tried to 'add' my second .pages file via Mission Control, this too without any avail.

Thanks for the fast reply VikingOSX!

I am on the same version of MacOS and Pages, but I still encounter this problem when following your instructions. I have tried restarting my system (multiple times) but the problem won't go away. All my files are named differently, so that is not the problem. When I open two .pages files, and I switch back to the first one to enable split view, I am able to select the other .pages file. When I select the second file, my whole screen goes grey and it opens the other .pages file in a new dashboard.

It seems like really weird behaviour to me...

UPDATE: After doing some additional research, I found out that it may be a resolution issue. If I use the default option in "displays" in System Preferences, split view is not available for two .pages files. If is use the scaled option for resolution the problem fixes itself.

Still seems like a bug that's easily fixable by tweaking the format size of pages.
