sound on macbook not working

The sound on my macbook pro isn’t working. When I go to sound, there is not the internal speakers option there is supposed to be. I don’t have headphones in of any sort or anything plugged into the mac. Please help

Try resetting NVRAM. Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

Also open Audio MIDI setup -- in Utilities -- and go to Built-in Output and try Configure Speakers.

You might also run Safe Mode to see if it happens there. How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support
