My face id stopped working. I reset it and now it always fails to setup. Sometimes a black vertical strip appears over a portion of the screen while trying to set up. This happened once before and nothing i did would fix it. And i tried one day and it worked again for a while until now. I have the latest ios version on my Iphone 11 Pro. Nothing else has any issues. I suspect some sort of hardware failure.

Your iPhone is within it's first year warranty, so I'd schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar for evaluation and options. Make sure you backup the phone before you go.
