migration assistant stalled

Trying to migrate High Sierra iMac to new MacBook Pro with Catalina using wifi. Stalls with 167 hours left! Can I cancel and restart?

Yes, you can cancel and restart. Migration Assistant will not duplicate items that have already have been transferred.

The fastest and surest way to use Migration is from your Time Machine backup disk plugged directly into your new Mac. Next best is an Ethernet connection to the older Mac. Wi-Fi is the least reliable method. It will take forever and often will not complete.

Thank you, macjack. It's reassuring to receive your reply. I went ahead, before receiving your reply, and used GO! Bridge.app with the 2 computers cabled together and things went really fast - on the order of an hour or a couple of hours. It was frustrating that Migration Assistant (with WiFi) was not found to be a good solution.
