MacBook Pro not recognizing Superdrive

I recently purchased a new MacBook and I need to install something onto it via CD. However, neither of my MacBooks (2016 and 2019) will even recognize my superdrive. Both devices are running MoJave. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, are there any solutions?

Do any of the new Macs post-2014 even still work with the superdrive?

What do you mean by "a different CD/DVD drive?" One that isn't Apple? If so, will it work on my Mac?

Yes, non-Apple. Apple only offers the SuperDrive. Most CD/DVD drives are compatible. Check out macsales.com for some options

also, thanks for the response.

You're welcome.

One more question, do you think I should go for an optical drive with USB-A compatibility or USB-C? What I mean is will the non-Apple branded optical drives work with a USB-C adapter (with USB-A ports)? Or should I just get an optical drive that plugs directly into the USB-C port?
