My iPhone 8 has stopped ringing and it isn’t on silent, do not disturb and the volume is at its highest

Are the calls you are missing from people that are in your contacts? Check Settings>Phone>Silence Unknown Callers. If this is on, then you will not hear calls from people not in your contact list.
