watch videos on ipad

I have a new Ipad, but when I try and put movies on it from my itunes, it says I need to install a VIDEO or TV app.

Odd, I assumed it was default, my old ipad has VIDEO app.

Anyway I have tried and failed to even FIND the Video (or TV) app in the app store.

I installed VLC, but still get the error.

How do i watch movies on my ipad?

(I dont want to stream, i want them stored on the ipad as I always have done- for traveling etc)
