Hi, my sons I phone X will no longer ring when receiving incoming calls, can’t figure out what he has done but it only announces the name of the caller and the ear piece beeps 4 times. Any help would be great !

Yes mirror i phone is checked.
if I go into sounds & haptics then ring his phone, the phone rings fine with the selected ring tone, as soon as I go out of the sounds and haptics menu it goes back to just announcing my name and a 4 beep ringing noise from the ear piece.
Go to Settings>Phone>Announce Calls. What is that set to? If you no longer wish for it to announce calls, set it to Never.
You say the earpiece beeps? Is he wearing headphones? If the headphones are disconnected, does the phone ring?
Hi, only thing connected to the i phone is his apple watch. He does not have any headphones connected.
On his phone, go to the Apple Watch app. In settings go to Phone. Is Mirror My iPhone checked?
