How to remove activation lock with unknown apple id
My daughter passed away, nobody knows the associated apple I'd for her ipad mini, I would like to be able to use her ipad to speak with my grandkids. How do I get rid of the activation lock?

Apple normally will not unlock a device without a copy of the original purchase receipt.
If you want, you can try to take the device, and a photo ID to the nearest Apple Store. Also take a copy of the death certificate and a copy of the will or a document that shows you inherited it.

or contact Apple ID Support. They will need to see the original purchase receipt/paperwork also.
