Hi,
So I was given an iMac, mid 2010, by my uncle and I can't seem to figure out a way to use airdrop with it. I've tried a bunch of things from youtube videos and google searches but haven't been successful. The only thing I've been able to do is bluetooth transfer files. However that only works for my laptop but not my phone. Any help is much appreciated.

Anecdotal note: I have had problems airdropping to my MacBook Pro...no reason that I can discern.

Jeff is correct. See: Use AirDrop on your Mac - Apple Support
Only 2012 iMacs or newer, using Yosemite or later, work with Airdrop.
