iOS 13 Notes app not opening

Ever since the very first iOS 13 update, I can’t use my Notes app at all. It won’t open because I get a pop-up window that says “The developer of this app needs to update it.” So, Apple, I’m still waiting.

I also don’t want to delete the app or restore my device to risk losing my important notes.

It is the default Notes app. And with the latest iOS update, 13.3, the issue has been fixed! I’m annoyed that it took this long to fix (3 months), but I’m relieved that I didn’t do a reset or reinstall so that my notes didn’t get deleted.

Hey there DeeVeeMon,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. I understand you are being prompted to udpate the Notes app you are using, and are therefore unable to open it.


Are you using the default Notes app, or one you've downloaded from the App Store?


Either way, let's check for any available updates to your installed apps. Here's how: Update apps or use automatic downloads


If there aren't any updates, follow all the steps in this article: If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open
