My MacBook Pro is stalling after turning on. The loading bar never shows more than 1/4 of the way. I have turned it off several times. No change. What is going on? How do I fix it so I can use the thing?

If Safe Mode doesn't work, then try running the Apple Hardware Test or Apple Diagnostics to check for a hardware issue or drive failure.
See if you can boot into Recovery Mode (Command + R) or Internet Recovery Mode (Command + Option + R) to run Disk Utility First Aid on the drive.
