how to make a podcast episode invisible

I uploaded three podcast episodes as part of the approval process, but I don't want all three to be "live" right now, but rather turn them on later. Is there a way to make an episode invisible on Apple Podcast/iTunes until I'm ready to distribute them later?

You could set the 'itunes:block' tag within your 'item' tags for the episode to 'yes', then remove that when you are ready to show the episode: obviously you will have to re-upload the feed each time. Though this works in the Store and in Apple Podcasts I'm not entirely sure it works in iTunes when subscribing. Frankly I would think you were better off not adding the episode to the feed until you are ready (remembering that it can take a couple of days for episodes to appear in the Store, though they appear pretty well immedately for subscribers in iTunes).
