When I try to connect my iPod to iTunes on Windows, I receive this message telling me it is "Mac-formatted" and must be restored. (Update software is not given as an option.)
Is there any way to connect it without restoring the iPod?

Sorry it isn't better news. If there is media on the device you don't have elsewhere perhaps you can find a Mac owning friend prepared to Recover media from an iPod for you.
