Just updated my iMac to Catalina. No problems. Now, I've attached the backup external hard drive to transfer my iTunes library. I get a message that I can't open this version the application iTunes on my external hard drive because "You can't use this version of the application "iTunes with this version of macOS. You have iTunes 12.9.4."
What next?
You don't need to open the iTunes application. If you created the backup by drag-copying or cloning, drag the iTunes library to the Music folder of your home folder; otherwise, check the documentation for the backup software you used.
