I began a new pages document and finished my work without saving it. I'm not sure what happened but I'm pretty sure I minimized the document without saving or titling it at ll and now it is gone. I've tried reopening pages and it hasn't shown up.

If you never saved the document & then closed it it is gone. It's a good "rule of thumb" to save a new document with a name before you type a single letter. That will trigger auto-save. You can always delete the file later if you no longer need it.
