Apple TV

I’m streaming from an iPad to a smart tv using an HDMI cable and lightning adaptor

i can see my iPad screen, watch you tube videos etc but when it comes to Apple TV I can only get sound but no picture. The screen shows the timer and the frame of the screen but no images
