Abnormal Battery Drain IOS 13 (Iphone XS)

Battery drain has been a big issue for IOS 13.

I tried some ways to save battery life on my iphone XS, which is less than a year old, but they didn't work at all.. The update lost 3% of its battery health, and another 3% because of IOS 13.2.2..

I even upgrade it to IOS 13.2.3, which is written bug fixes and improvements for iphone, doesn't fix the battery drain bug issue on my iphone..

Is there anything i can do?

Apple, please solve this problem :'(

Hi mollyloe,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! I understand you have concerns about battery performance on your iPhone XS, and I'd like to help.

Your battery is not lasting as long as you'd expect it to, and it sounds like you've tried ways to improve your battery life. Apple recommends following the tips and suggestions found in this support article, to optimize your device for the best battery life: Batteries - Maximizing Performance - Apple. If you're already following these tips, continue below.

-Are you noticing any specific applications using more battery life than expected? You can review this under Settings > Battery > Battery Usage.

-When you look at the graph that is displayed under Settings > Battery, do you notice battery drain even when your phone is not in use? About the battery usage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support.

Let's also check your battery health under Settings > Battery > Battery Health. Is the Maximum Capacity of your battery at 80% or lower? Do you see any alerts about needing to service your battery? Do you see any alerts about performance management being enabled? Learn more about how battery health can impact your device performance and overall battery life in this support article: iPhone Battery and Performance - Apple Support.

If your battery drain continues after following the above tips, and you are unable to connect the battery drain to specific app usage, I would recommend reaching out to Apple Support next, using this link: Contact - Official Apple Support.

Thank you for your time.

Take care.

Apple doesn't really make any guarantees that the Battery Health will decline in any specific manner. The big number is 80% battery health at under 500 cycles. They will replace the battery under warranty in that case or possibly AppleCare.

Reduction in Battery Health is normal and sometimes gets reevaluated where it drops in what may seem large amounts. I've seen a rapid drop from 94-88% and didn't worry about it. Real battery capacity doesn't really drop 3% at a time. But the estimate of battery health can change quickly - I call it a "course correction".

After upgrade to IOS 13.3. My iPhone XS (GREY BLACK) was a totally nightmare.

My battery keep on draining even single minute, even it's on standby mode. I attempt to restore via Itunes in DFU mode, without any luck.

- Battery health is at 93 %, and I feel the phone is overheating after the upgrade

- After restore 'Face ID is not Available' You can set up Face ID Later when iPhone cool down

Even if I manage to set up the Face ID successfully, it's intermittent working. Messaged reflect on the 'Face ID will be available, when iPhone cool down'

I pop into applestore, they claimed hardware is all perfectly fine. But detected error in the sensor issue. They cannot promise me by changing the battery will resolve this issue, it can be damage of the circuit board after firmware upgrade

They also denied downgrade the firmware versioon.

I appreciate you look into this software bug that haunting everybody.

- I disabled face ID function, the battery keep on draining.

Apple is relatively unreliable these days, they are moving backwards. Counter staff having poor knowledge from technical perspective, unable to attention to my queries and attempt to cover up the story.

To conclude this drama, they in store staff unable to rectify and confirm with me by changing hardware or battery will resolve the issue. But they remain silent and denied the software issue.

They even ask me to fork out 800 bucks to get the phone a replacement change.

If you look into online, there are tons of people facing the same issue. I had my phone charged to 100 %, on airplane mode, low battery and WIFI on. Background apps is all killed, 5 hours down the road on standby, my phone were battery slashed

to half , I wish I could go back older firmware

Like many I've been experiencing severe battery drain issues since upgrade to ios 13 on my iphone 6s.

phone would have a full charge at night only to be at 10% or less in the morning.

Most of the online discussions I found on tips for resolving were of no use. Found one article online that suggests recalibrating the battery after every os upgrade. I was a bit skeptical but figured i'd give it a try before getting a new phone or waiting for apple to resolve with another patch. I turned on the phone's flashlight and let it just run down the battery until it shut off. (low power mode had been shut off as well) This took a while. Indicator showed 1% for more than a couple hours. once it was discharged I left drained overnight. Following day I plugged it and left it charging for better part of the day. Leaving it plugged in for a couple hours even after it had reached 100%.

It has now been over 30 hours since doing this complete drain and recharge and with normal phone use battery is at 69%.

Prior to this I likely would have had to plug the charge cable in at least 3 times in that span of time.

So seemed to work for my phone. I'd say that the term recalibrating the battery is a bit misleading however.

Seems more that the os needs to be calibrated to the battery. Perhaps during the os upgrade apple might make some recommendations such as only upgrade when battery level is at full charge (though i am not certain that would resolve), or instruct that battery drain issues result after the upgrade to fully drain and then recharge your battery.

Battery drain issue is in so many threads if this solution works for you add your comments to one of the others
