Transferring photos to hard drive

I was hoping to transfer images from my Mac Book Pro to a Seacrest external hard drive. How can this be completed

I have done this very simply by COPYING the photos library to the external drive with photos closed, then by double clicking the library on the external drive to check that it opens photos correctly

After it has opened successfully, set IT as the system library (Photos>Preferences) and close photos. Then rename the old library, open photos to check it opens the new library.

On success you may do whatever you wish with the old library

All this assumes that you wish to migrate your photos library to the external drive
