My Albums only item that opens in Photos

Why is My Albums the only item that opens with the Photo App?

Photo albums In the past I have created a number of albums in 'My Albums' and then added individual photos to the new album. Simple. Today, when I click the + sign next to My Albums, nothing happens. In the past a new box would appear under My Albums which I would then name and add to. I have spent over an hour on this so any suggestions welcome.

cannot open photos in photos events I have 279 albums in my file Photos Events, but I cannot open one album, it says in each album 0 photo???? If someone can help me , thank you

I was able to solve it thru Photo stream.

What happens, when you try to open other items in the sidebar, is there an error message?
