iWatch - iPhone range

How far can the Apple Watch be from the iPhone and still be able to make calls, etc? Is the connection through Blue Tooth or Wifi?

I get about 50 feet via Bluetooth, but my iPhone is using Bluetooth 4, and I'm told that Bluetooth 5 has even better range.

If both the iPhone and Apple Watch are on the same WiFi, they will switch over to WiFi if out of Bluetooth range.

If your carrier supports WiFi calling, and you have enabled WiFi calling on your iPhone, then the Apple Watch can make/receive phone calls via WiFi.
