Suddenly dies

My phone suddenly dies,

I have 40%-50% and the screen turns black and I can’t get it to work again.

First time this happened it took 2 hours to use it again.

Last night this happened and took 8 hours to use my phone again.

My phone is in a continuous cycle of dying I have an iPhone 6S and it dies at around 40%. I plug it into charge, and it does the starting up/reviving screen. Once it has completed that stage, it dies again. I cannot take my phone out of charge anymore or it will die. Even though it has been in charge continuously, the battery keeps going down. My phone is not the newest, however this still shouldn't be happening - it makes no sense.

But at around 60 or 70 % the phone will die and the Apple logo will pop up as if I restarted the phone. The phone may turn back on by itself but when it turns back on it's at 10% and the battery proceeds to drain very fast, if I wee I take my eyes off for a minute or two it'll already be at 8%. Then it'll die once again and I'll press the power button to try to turn it back on but it'll show the logo saying it's completely dead but once I plug it into a power source the Apple logo will pop up again and when the phone turns back on it's at the 60-70 % it originally died on in the first place. I've had my iPhone XR for a few weeks and today it died suddenly Hello, I've had my phone for a few weeks and today it died suddenly. At first I thought dead battery and plugged it in for a recharge. However its been over an hour and the screen is still black. Has this happened to anyone else and what can I do to resuscitate it? thanks [Re-Titled by Moderator]
