I can't add an audio file to an iMovie on my MacBook Pro

Hi please can someone help? I am trying to create an iMovie on my MacBook Pro but can't add an audio file that I have purchased through iTunes ..... yet on my iPhone with the same I cloud account I can use the audio file!?!?!?!

The audio file may be DRM (copyright) protected. The simplest solution would be to repurchase the song. Songs purchased after year 2009 are DRM free.


Also, songs that are stored in the cloud are not available to iMovie. You would need to download the song into your iTunes library.
