From GarageBand to iMovie

I want to use an audio track from GarageBand in iMovie, and I’ve already shared it to the media browser and restarted iMovie itself after doing so. But still nothing pops up in iMovie except the same old “files are missing iLife preview and unavailable”. This has been a very frustrating process and really all I want to do is get the audio file into iMovie.
