Hi Neil22R

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I had tried to clean the mike, but I used a very soft brush, which didn't work. Then, with your help, I learned about the second , flip side mike and tried dictating from there. The test was successful, so I realized I had to do a better cleaning job, with harder bristles. Now the mike works fine, similarly, I cleaned the receiver as well and regained lost volume.
