I just used Etrecheck but unsure if it safe?

Not sure what you mean by downloading to Apple. The app doesn't send anything to Apple. It's not even a choice under the Share Report button.

The purpose of it (mostly) is to take a snapshot of your system to see what hardware and software is installed. If you know how to read through the output, it can help you figure out some issues.

Etrecheck is completely safe and in fact developed and written by a respected member of this discussion forum. The message you have relayed makes no sense. There is no download to Apple involved. Did you take care to download it from the Apple app store or direct from the developers web site? If it came from somewhere else it could be loaded with other software (that is in reality crapware).
