MacBook is on but the screen is black

Hi,

• Reset the PRAM (cmd+alt+P+R on boot), try to startup without the charger and see if anything changes.
• Do you have a Time Machine's backup? Press Alt on boot and recover your Mac from here.
• Try also to boot up in Safe Mode (press Shift on boot), so you can disable the graphic acceleration and see if it's a graphic issue.

Try rebooting it.

If that doesn't help, call your local Apple Store and make an appointment for them to examine it. Afterward they will tell you your alternatives.
